On December 12, 2023, Sam Jones of Heartland participated in the “Investing in Business Integrity Across the ESG Agenda” panel at the Private Sector Forum, held on the margins of the tenth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in Atlanta, Georgia. The forum, titled The United Nations Convention Against Corruption at 20: Uniting Leaders for Business Integrity, was co-organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact), with support from the United States.
Building upon guidance from the Principles for Responsible Investment and the UN Global Compact, as well as the ongoing rise in corporate sustainability reporting, panelists discussed the role of integrity within ESG frameworks. They also highlighted how investment funds and reporting standards can promote ethical corporate practices in line with the UNCAC and Principle Ten of the UN Global Compact.
Sam was joined by François Valerian (Chair, Transparency International), Øistein Jensen (Chief Sustainability Officer, Odfjell SE), Robin Hodess (Strategy Lead, The B Team), and Adam Gordon (Executive Director, Global Compact Network USA).
